The Beginning

Hello everyone. Or no one.

My name is Kyle. I could easily be writing to the Void here, but that is partially the point. Let me explain.

I am a father of two; my son (as I write this) is six months old. As all parents know, it is hard to find the time. I have been able to get a few habits going, but something has held me back from diving into my creativity. I want to write music and share it. I want to write stories again.

I used to create more. I wrote music, and, as this website shows, I was a sound designer for theatre. In 2019, one of the last large creative endeavors was to write a song each week.

The idea for this blog came from a few places. To rediscover my creative side, I thought I could listen to the music I wrote in 2019 and critique each song. Posting to various Discords and other places may be a bit excessive.

It also occurred to me that it may be helpful to start writing out my creative struggles; if it is an issue of shame, perfectionism, fear of failure, etc., writing can help me identify the problem and fix it.

If I want to write a short story, writing a blog will help me keep the habit up, even if I don’t want to write for my main story.

A trifecta of reasons. Good place to stop! I will write more on my goals later. Until next time, Void.
