2019 Songs Review: Week 1 - Brand New
First off, I appreciate your patience while my family and myself went through a tour of diseases brought to you by daycare. Thanks for waiting Void.
Now without further ado, let’s start off this review of songs I wrote 6 years ago.
This was the first song I wrote in this self-imposed challenge to write a song for every week. I remember this was one I pushed to actually do in one week. I also strove to create all of the sounds from scratch.
I love the beginning of this (really shows off how much I love arpeggiators). Overall, I remember this song being okay - not something I would share too widely. Honestly, I did not remember this was the first song I wrote, but I remember it instantly once I started listening.
Notes from listening:
There is the moment after the “first chorus” I always thought of as a choral or church moment, fun to write but not sure it actually fit the song.
Also, there is this one part starting around 1:30 I never got to a point I liked but I went ahead and printed the song anyway when the week was done.
Man, I love that fade-y distorted pad starting around 2:10.
2:58 was a cool little phrase I enjoyed coming up with to bring it back to the chorus.

After listening to this, I do not know if I have a future in house or happy hardcore but I am proud that I wrote this song. It serves for me a good reminder to not let the perfect be the enemy of the good and to just have a good time writing music. Let’s keep this top of mind as I start writing again.
Thanks!
